Summary: If the situation arises you may need someone to file a construction claim for you. By understanding the different kinds of claims that exist you will be better equipped to determine which one fits your circumstances.

Due to the busy nature of construction work, you might eventually run into a situation where you feel it is necessary to file a construction claim. There are many aspects of the construction industry, which is why you should learn about some of the most common claims others make. This can help you figure out which kind of claim would fit your experience.

Mechanic’s Lien Claims

This is the kind of claim you would file if the property owner who is funding the construction job is not paying the workers. If, for instance, you provided the necessary labor, equipment, and materials for a particular construction job and you provided the relevant pre-lien documents, you can choose to file this claim against the property owner if you are not paid.

Delay Construction Claims

Another common kind of construction claim is a delay construction claim. These claims are related to events that resulted in delays in the construction project’s schedule, usually leading to a failure to meet the proposed deadline in the contract. Even though the circumstances that resulted in the delay may have been unplanned, they nevertheless impacted the construction workers’ abilities to complete the job, as accepted.

Breach-of-Contract Claims

An additional claim that is fairly common in the construction industry is a breach-of-contract claim, where a group of people fail to do all of the work requested in the contract. In order to file one of these claims, the party that failed to complete the work must not have any legal excuse.
